Privacy Policy — BalaTale

BalaTale (“App”) respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and which third parties process data to provide personalized bedtime stories. The same policy is available in the App under Settings → Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

• Child profile: first name, age, interests/preferences, optional story topic or concern entered by a parent, and optional toy/companion name.
• Account data: when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email — email address and/or name to create and sync your account, purchases, and settings.
• Images: optional character avatar from camera or gallery. Photos may be temporarily stored in secure cloud storage to generate story illustrations.

2. Sharing with third-party AI services

To generate story text, illustrations, and narration, the App sends the data listed above to third-party AI providers only after a parent or guardian gives permission in the App (during registration, or via an in-app consent screen for existing accounts).

Recipients:

• Google Gemini / Google Generative AI (Google LLC) — story text, illustrations, and text-to-speech audio for supported languages.
• MangiSoz — text-to-speech audio when Kazakh (kk) narration is selected.

What is sent: child’s first name, age, interests/preferences, optional toy/companion name, story topic or concern, story text for voice synthesis, and optional avatar image for illustration style.

Purpose: solely to generate the requested fairy-tale content. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising. Processing is subject to the providers’ terms and privacy policies; we require appropriate protection for shared data.

Without your consent, the App will not send this personal data to these AI services.

3. Other third-party services

• Apple Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In / Google Play Services — authentication and platform features.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchases (we do not store your card details).
• Firebase Analytics / Firebase Crashlytics (where enabled) — usage and crash diagnostics.
• Push notification providers (e.g. OneSignal) — optional notifications you enable.

4. Children’s privacy (COPPA / GDPR)

BalaTale is designed for children with parental involvement. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal data without a parent or guardian. Parents may request deletion of profile-related data at any time by contacting us.

5. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards. No internet transmission or electronic storage method is 100% secure.

6. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. Check this page or Settings → Privacy Policy periodically.
